Lincoln Park is one of the most affluent communities in Chicago, located on the city's north side. You'll find some of the most beautiful real estate in Lincoln Park. Whether you're moving to Lincoln Park from nearby or coming from across the state, you can count on us to help make it stress-free!
About two months before you move, you'll want to start getting organized. Get a folder ready with all your important paperwork, and start getting rid of items you won't be taking with you; it's a great time to donate or sell! If you need to have a garage sale, in the next week or two is an ideal time so you aren't trying to do too much later. At about the six week mark it's time to give us a call and schedule our moving services! This is also a good time to start packing up stuff you won't be needing in the immediate future; for example if you're moving in July, start boxing up coats and sweats, etc. Be sure to label your boxes! Get change of address cards from your post office, notify schools if you have kids and have their records transferred. Nearing the four week mark, it's time to start packing more non-essentials and notify your utility companies and other service providers to set the date to terminate service, transfer service, or start service at your new home. At the three week mark is about when you should start on the kitchen cupboards, fridge, freezer, pantry, etc. This is less of a necessity if you're moving a few minutes away, but for a far move it's a good idea to try going through food that's open and perishables so you aren't having to throw food out when you move.
Now that you've been preparing for weeks, the two week mark is when it's really time to get down to business. Packing usually takes longer than one thinks, so don't put this off until the last minute! Be organized - any important paperwork or valuable items should be packed in a clearly labeled box so you don't lose track of anything. Start getting glass items properly wrapped and packed. Organize and pack everything but the essentials by the one week mark. When you're just a week away from moving, put together a box of items you'll need as soon as you move in, and be sure to take this box with you, and not the moving truck. This box could contain a first aid kit, change of clothes, tooth paste and brushes, etc. Think of the items you need on a daily basis and put them in this box.
On moving day, be present when our crew arrives. If you have items you want to have available to unpack first, let our guys know to pack that box last. We'll make sure everything is safe and we'll keep and inventory of all boxes, but we also encourage all of our clients to keep their own inventory as well. Make sure your box of essential items and valuables are set aside to stay with you as well. If you have any questions, just give us a call!
